Holding Sharia Certificates to Become Mandatory for Jordan’s Mosque Preachers

IQNA – Mosque preachers in Jordan will be required to have Sharia certificates, the country’s Awqaf minister said.

Mohammad Khalaileh said on Tuesday that the ministry has a plan for all mosque preachers in the Kingdom to hold legal certificates to be qualified to preach.

During a press conference with media representatives, he confirmed that all mosques in the Kingdom are managed by the Awqaf ministry, and there are no private mosques or outside the scope of the ministry in Jordan.

Imams and preachers in mosques are appointed by the ministry, and currently preachers from outside the ministry are being used to cover Friday sermons, he added.

The minister also pointed out that the assets of the Hajj Fund until the end of 2023 were JD333 million.
